MOURNING & BEREAVEMENT ART WORKSHOPS

A creative space to remember, express, and make something meaningful after loss.

Grief does not always have words.

Making something with our hands can provide another way to express what is difficult to say, hold space for memories, and create a tangible connection to someone who has died.

Mourning & Bereavement Art Workshops offer guided opportunities for individuals and groups to explore grief through creative practice. No previous art experience is necessary.

Workshops can incorporate materials such as personal photographs, textiles, found objects, written memories, natural materials, and other meaningful items.

Possible workshop projects include:

  • Memory boxes and shadow boxes

  • Memorial assemblages

  • Wearable remembrance objects

  • Found-object keepsakes

  • Memory vessels

  • Personal memorial sculptures

  • Written and visual remembrance projects

  • Collaborative memorial artworks

  • Sterling silver ring making

  • Pierced and Cut Metal Charm Making

  • Precious Metal Clay Charm Making

Workshops can be adapted for families, community groups, senior communities, caregivers, organizations, and other groups experiencing loss or transition.

The intention isn't to “fix” grief. It is to create space for it—to remember, connect, express, and make something that carries meaning.

THE PROCESS

1. Conversation & Planning
For private or organizational workshops, we begin by discussing the group, the nature of the gathering, and what kind of creative experience would be appropriate.

2. Choose the Project
Together, we select a project that fits the group, setting, available time, and materials.

3. Gather & Reflect
Participants may be invited to bring photographs, objects, written memories, or other materials connected to the person or experience they wish to honor.

4. Create
I guide participants through the artistic process while allowing space for conversation, reflection, memory, and individual expression.

5. Complete & Share
Participants leave with a personal creation that can serve as a tangible reminder of the person, relationship, or memory they chose to honor.
